Abstract

This work is the result of investigations of the research project developed at NUPED/IFRN, in Line 3 History, Memory and Historiography of EP (PPGEP/IFRN). The aforementioned project, called “Work and Education in the 19th century: archives, sources and historiography of the learning of the trade and training of craftsmen”, aimed at understanding professional education in the 1800s. The locus of the study was the Public Domain repository, in which information was searched in theses and dissertations on professional education in the nineteenth century. To analyze the findings, we used the (ATD) from the categories work and education in the 19th century. After the systematization and dialogues carried out with the results and based on the analyzed categories, we showed that education in the nineteenth century and the relationship between work and education were permeated by the daily life of the manufacturing centers, in which the existing schools aimed at the qualification of labor for the development of factories.
