Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • By publishing in the Empírica journal, authors agree to the use of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
  • Registration of all authors with full name, institution name and ORCID
  • Ensure that the article to be submitted is original and that it is not under consideration in any other scientific journal (if it has been published, even partially, elsewhere, such as conference proceedings or institutional repositories, please inform this).
  • Indicate the consent of all parties involved in the process
  • Ensure the confidentiality of the name(s) of the author(s) in the submission file.
  • Comply with the "Guidelines for authors".

Author Guidelines

  1. The text is in Portuguese or English;

  2. The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal. If the study has been published (even partially) in the proceedings of a scientific event or in institutional repositories (monograph, dissertation or thesis), information about the event and repository must be made available in "comments for the editor".

  3. The article is authored by the authors themselves, with the full approval of all authors (all of whom have contributed significantly to the article);

  4. They assume responsibility for its content and, in case of approval, are aware that the copyright of the article will be in accordance with the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0);

  5. They follow the ethical standards and norms of research according to the ethical standards of the journal, including not infringing any intellectual rights of third parties or incurring plagiarism of any kind;

  6. The content covered in the file is related to the focus and scope of the journal;

  7. When submitting, only the names of people who actually participated in the research must be included;

  8. Spelling and grammar issues regarding the cohesion and coherence of the writing were reviewed according to the language used in the writing.

  9. The papers must have a maximum number of collaborators of 8 members, and the number of pages cannot exceed 20, excluding attachments and appendices.

  10. Translation and publication another language must be permitted when applicable.

About Formatting

Regarding the publication format, Empírica magazine offers a template that authors can download and insert the text in the specified format. It is emphasized that the paper must have:

  • Text in single spacing (no indentation between paragraphs) and Times New Roman font size 12 throughout the text except for footnotes, long quotations, texts and sources of tables and illustrations (these must be in font size 10);
  • Abstract and Summary with between 100 and 250 words;
  • Up to 5 keywords and Keywords separated by periods;
    Centered titles in Portuguese and English;
  • Justified text with 1.25 indentation on the first line (except for section titles, which must be aligned to the left and follow the page margin, and references, which must have a centered title and no numbering);
  • The identification of the author of the work must be removed from the submitted file as well as from the Properties option in Word, thus ensuring the confidentiality criterion of the journal.

It is also worth remembering that all text must comply with the current ABNT standard and that any identification of authorship must be excluded from the regular text and from the Word properties, thus ensuring the confidentiality criterion of the journal.

The result of the evaluation of the article will be sent by e-mail to the author(s) and will be available on the journal's website in the author's area.
