Abstract

This article offers a brief analysis of Alain Badiou’s work The Communist Hypothesis. The aim is to critically understand the movement of resigned negation of the idea of communism through the lens of the concept of failure. The characterization proposed by the author is that there exists an ideological construction around the failure of communism that must be assessed. In this sense, we will follow the author’s indications in an attempt to reconstruct his argumentation, whose purpose is to recover the idea of communism. We begin with the analysis made by the author of the criticisms directed at historical socialist movements. We seek to demonstrate the dialectic present in the analysis of what has conventionally been called the failure of socialist experiences. Subsequently, we will discuss the importance of restoring revolutionary action and its relation to the nation-state. Finally, we present the debate on human emancipation and the recovery of the idea of communism.
