Abstract

This article analyzes Heidegger’s proposal to reorder language as a path toward a new ontology, taking as reference the transition from Being and Time to the so-called “second Heidegger.” The failure of Being and Time to overcome metaphysics, according to its interpreters, lies in the fact that Heidegger was still operating with a language inherited from the Western tradition. This realization leads the philosopher to investigate the very essence of language, understanding it not as a mere instrument, but as the privileged site of the manifestation of Being. In contrast to the technical and instrumental language predominant in modernity, Heidegger advocates for a language capable of opening spaces of originary meaning, preserving the alterity of beings and the ontological experience of Dasein. Modernity, by reducing language to its informative function, compromises its originary dimension and transforms reality into a mere manipulable object. In this process, modern technology not only subjects language to the demands of calculation but also absolutizes its instrumental dimension, erasing the possibility of a poetic and ontological experience of Being. The article concludes that Heidegger’s proposal of an “other beginning” necessarily involves the recovery of language as the event of Being, capable of restoring to humanity a more originary relation with the world.
